Sisters Network, Inc. – Chicago Chapter (SNI) made great strides in 2024. We volunteered, raised money, brought awareness to new venues, and celebrated as members received new and helpful certifications. We could not have done it without you. Click the tabs below to see our 2024 in review.
Serving Others
Our volunteering included:
- Gift for Life Block Walk at Faith Temple COGIC, the hosting church
- Collaborating with four organizations:
- Susan G. Komen
- Yaas-Young and a Survivor
- Elevated Survivorship
- City of Hope
- Participating in 18 outreach events throughout the year
Education
Here’s how we educated others:
- Participating in the Black Women’s Expo and collecting 1000 surveys
- Attending Springfield IL and Washington D.C. to advocate for laws and programs benefiting breast cancer survivors and their families
- Participating in the Bud Billikens Parade by having a float and distributing breast health information
Fundraising
Our fundraisers included:
- Receiving $20,000 from an anonymous donor
- Receiving a $500.00 donation from the Sixth District Chicago Police Department
- Attending Chicago Bears’ Bears Care Grantee Luncheon
- The Sisters Network Chicago’s 20th Anniversary Fashion/Luncheon
- Partnering with iHeart Media for the 8th annual Sista Strut Breast Cancer Walk. There were 8,000 attendees, and the Mega Breast exhibit (sponsored by the Patient Advocate Foundation) was well received.
Membership
Membership activities included:
- Two members attending the University of Illinois’ Navigator program
- Holding an annual Strategic Planning Meeting
- Regular membership meetings and fellowship events throughout the year
- Two members attending National’s Annual 5K walk in Houston, Texas in April 2024
- Two members attending the National Conference in Houston, Texas in October 2024
